A bit about me
Lived in California my whole life. I was a bit sad about moving to Chicago but my brother lives there, and then I was set on going to CCOM until I got off the waitlist at Western COMP. I think I like CCOM as a school more, but I don't know if i want to make the move or not.
CCOM
Pros:

CCOM
Pros:
- Great rotations
- most i will drive would be an hour away for rotations
- good match list
- i can live with my brother and commute
- more research opportunities on campus and at nearby hospitals
- in a really nice community and pretty suburb area
- $$$$ (83k in tuition alone), with COA it is estimated to be ~123,000?
- Traditional letter grading system / GPA
- frequent exams
- traditional curriculum and only one month for dedicated
- schedule away rotations in California for chances at the residency, but I think i am okay with matching in Illinois and just seeing where life takes me
Western COMP
Pros:
- Honors/High pass/P/F system (technically still grading)
- 8 weeks of dedicated
- during the interview, the faculty gave a walkthrough of the curriculum, which was nice (whereas at CCOM, the faculty did not have PowerPoint and pulled out info from her head, and I felt like this gave somewhat of a bad vibe?)
- systems based curriculum
- somewhat cheaper, after estimated COA
- geet to stay in California, and match most likely in California
- in a stechky area, feel like i won't be safe in areas of Pomona
- have to live in an apartment as the commute is pretty far away from my parent's house with traffic
- rotations seems to be spread further out. they try to keep students in one hospital system/area (Bakersfield, Ventura, ). not really a fan of those areas
- have to schedule most of my own rotations for the fourth year
- i think less research opportunities
