Hi!

STATS:
4.0 GPA 523 MCAT

I took AP Calc and AP Stats senior year of HS and got 5's on both of them. However, as I am currently applying to schools, I am finding that some don't accept the AP math credit. At my university, we are able to take the final for certain math courses (without re-enrolling in the course) and as long as we get a B- or better on the final you can get credit for the course. I don't have space in my senior year schedule for 2 additional 4 cr. classes. If I take the final for calculus I and statistics offered at my uni during the fall or spring semester will that be okay to satisfy the math requirement?

Thanks in advance!

How will it show on your transcript? Does it count as having exempted out of the class or as having taken and passed it?

@gyngyn what do you mean by that? I should try and retake the class? Schools like UCLA specifically say that they don't accept AP credit, so wouldn't I be an auto-reject, since I wouldn't have taken any college math courses? I did take calculus based physics by sophomore year, so would that count?

Call UCLA. Give them your stats and ask if they care.
UCLA doesn't even have pre-req's!

I always get the two confused!

Still, I'm pretty sure Geffen only has "recommended" not required courses.

On MSAR they say recommended, but on the Geffen website they are required. I see that at the bottom AAMC basically says they aren't liable for any misinfo on MSAR, haha.

Your advice is best. Call UCLA!!
