Hello,

So I need to know how easy it is to work in Oz after finishing US residency and fellowship. Any limitations? Does one need to go thru assessment?

I appreciate any input.

Thanks earmuff. I did check out Doctorconnect before posting. I just wanted to know if American specialists go thru the same process and if there is any restriction on their practice.

Several problems you may encounter you may not be aware of.

-10 year moratorium
-Restrictions from AMC if you don't have anything similar to an internship (may need to take AMC accreditation process)
-Restrictions from your specific college...so for example if you're a Pathologist that would be the RCPA

Now the situation is different if you apply for an Area of Need specialist position.

Short answer is it really depends where you are willing to work. The more rural the more flexible the rules get.

Thanks red. I was sure there are some issues one can't learn quickly from the official websites.

-10 year moratorium

Does that mean I need to work in a rural area for 10 years before moving to city?

Not at all. There's been some recent great threads talking about what the 10 year moratorium means.
