I am a Canadian student going into dental school next year and I was wondering if I wish to specialize in pediatric dentistry, should I attend a US dental school or a Canadian dental school? Is it worth the additional cost (200k over 4 years) to attend a dental school in the States since there are more opportunities to specialize here? Or are Canadian DS graduates have equal opportunity to obtain a spot at the pediatric dentistry specialty? Also, if I attend a school in the States, I will have the chance to network with faculties in the pediatric dentistry who maybe helpful in writing me a good letter of recommendation? Thank you for any input you may have!

I don't think it matters - our pediatric dental program has had Canadian students from Canadian and US dental schools and has also interviewed applicants from both sides of the border. You can obtain letters of recommendation from the faculty of any dental school - they're mostly a reflection on you and the effort you put into your work.

Thank you for your reply. Does class ranking plays a big factor into getting a place at pediatric dentistry? So does going to an easier dental school giving one an advantage? Thank you!

A lot of schools don't rank, so I'm not sure how programs compare those that do and those that don't (or don't release those in the dean's letter). Pick a school that you think will well prepare you, study hard and round out your extracurriculars - those are more important than class rank.
