I am very interested in applying to some UK medical schools and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice in where to start and what the possibilities may be. Thank you very much for your help. Take care.

Hi,
If you pm me with specific questions I would be happy to help.

I'm interested in this too. Does anyone know which, if any, UK med schools ever admit Americans?

Thanks!

Last time I checked, british schools did not accept US students. The statment made to me was "we do not offer spots to citizens of a country which has adequate medical training". They admit many canadians, so i guess that says something..lol.

Schools in Ireland accept americans though.

I am not sure if being in the Commonwealth makes a difference? We have a few Canadian students in our school but I have never met a US student from a UK medical school.

Hi,
There are a few americans studying in uk medical schools. Not many but a few here and there.

There are several Americans at GKT and we're linked with Johns Hopkins, Emory and Chicago medical schools. There are annual exchange programmes between us and those US schools. So we're pretty "American friendly".

Miscy,

Do you have any advice for how I should get started as far as applying to GKT? I'm interested in entering in 2005 (oh, and I'm a US citizen/resident, so applying from overseas.) Should I just start filling out the UCAS form? It sure looks complicated... If there's any special advice for overseas students, I'd love to know.

Thanks!
