Can an AF HPSPer take Aeromed as their first residency? Maybe after a year or two as a Flight Surgeon?

Also, can an HPSPer take civilian deferment to try to get into the UTMB or Wright State programs?

Also, in the AF, is it possible to defer a year for a Masters Degree? I seriously doubt it, but I'm interested in the International Space University Master of Space Science degree.

Thanks for your help!

You can definitely try to become a RAM (Residency in Aerospace Medicine) after even after 1-2 years of being a flight surgeon in the USAF. Used to be difficult, but they are pretty desperate for good applicants and have taken a lot of junior flight surgeons lately.
Since they have somewhat of a problem getting enough folks for their own RAM program in San Antonio, TX, you will likely be very out of luck if you are trying to go to UTMB or Wright State. Plus, the USAF program is probably better and definitely better funded as civilian aerospace medicine residencies are at the whim of federal govt and NASA funding.
Also, getting a deferment to do a "Master of Space Science degree" is very unlikely. AF flight surgeons don't really do space stuff. NASA does that.
