USC "up to date" letter??

I got a letter in the mail today from USC bringing me up to date on the status of my application. It said that my app has compelted the preliminary review and will remain under consideration until the class is finalized in early August.


WHAT? does this mean I'm on hold/continuing review at this school too? 🙁 until august just does not sound good!




anyone else get this letter or know what it means?

my usc status defined description also says under review...so both columns say under review now as opposed to just one of them saying it before. What does that mean, it's done being under review? or its in that pile of on hold applications as well? It's too late to call now but did anyone already call today who knows?

i got that letter a month ago. im pretty sure its almost as good as a rejection.

aarrrggggg WHAT! really!? how come?

I thought USC would be one school that it might be "easier" to get in or one that wasn't as much of a reach for me given my stats and reading stuff on the forums. When I see the stats they listed as their avg for their class then I think oh wait wow I have those! So I don't get it!?

Why put me/us in that pile when we are competitive for usc?!

it can't be a rejection it just can't 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 that means I would have to start losing hope for my other schools that are "harder" to get into.

Could it be that USC thinks we will get into other schools and won't pick them so they dont want to waste time with us!? but that's not true i woudlnt' have applied there if I didn't really want to go there! it jsut can't be a rejections because my stats are not that bad I think...ahh USC has thrown off my thinking now with this letter! HMPH!

I got the same letter too. If I didn't have an acceptance already I would be really mad, but now i couldn't care less about their stupid PBL system. It is still kind of sad to have interviewed at much better schools and not even have a chance at USC.

Chillax! I just got it in Saturday's mail, even though it was postmarked in October (right after my interview). It says after my interview, I go into a validated applicant pool from which they draw acceptances. I'm sure this letter is not meant to give you any indication of your status (it might even say that in there). I was accepted Dec 1st, so don't freak out about it. The point of the letter is to help you get excited about the school again 😛

uhhh... your letter was a lot different than ours... ours says "we'll hold onto your file until august when our class has been filled". I suppose we could interview waaaay late into the cycle... but to me it sounds more of a.. "we reviewed your app and think you suck" than... "hang in there."
I, like the earlier poster, don't really care about USC now that I've been accepted somewhere else.

I got the same letter. My application is "on Hold" right now. My GPA is higher than the USC average GPA and DAT is about same. Well, maybe they just don't like me.

No, mine says the same thing. It was sent right after the interview, but I just received it 2 months later. There is no negative connotation behind it, as shown by my acceptance

It def. makes me feel like I'm on hold at the school which, like the earlier posters, seems ridiculous because we all seem to be well qualified and it sucks that instead of giving an interview they give this letter. I was really hoping/expecting an interview from USC for sure so it's quite baffling and just well, throws me off about how I was evaluating everything.

That's awesome that you guys have acceptances already so you don't have to worry about USC but I have not even interviewed anywhere yet so every not so positive, even if it's not negative, letter gets me worked up and re-evaluating about what will/could happen this cycle.

Sorry if I sound paranoid I just don't have anything to fall back on so I took it as USC saying "you're file finally made it to the top of our pile and I looked it but decided you're not good enough to give you an interview now, but you're not so bad that I want to reject you right now either, so just hang out until August and I'll think about ya later!"

It's not super negative but it's def. not a positive in my books.😕😱😱😱

I got that letter about 2 months ago saying I'll be reviewed until August. However, I got an interview invite after 2 weeks of receiving that mail. So don't lose hope!

Unfortunately not.
Haha, not a rejection yet though.
I was trying to give hope for people who recieved that letter b/c I first thought it was a 'rejection' but was surprised to recieve an invitation email.
