I don't have the luxury to make this decision yet, but I think the two are a good comparison. a. Pitt's reputation is better (ranked 20th), its research facilities seem above average, and its surgery dept. (e.g. transplantation) is top notch, if not the best. But Pittsburgh as a city has its drawbacks, which include not having a lot of young people, not having much of a night life, etc. b. USC is still in the top 50 (ranked 43), and few cities rival the excitement of Los Angeles. USC Med doesn't have much of a campus, however, and the facilities aren't outstanding. But USC just received the biggest private donation in medical school history at $110 million. USC is building a new hospital and a state-of-the-art neurogenetics research building. In other words, USC is on the rise. Which school would you choose?
