Hi,
I'm an img, planning to apply for internal med. programs next year.
How important is USCE or research/publications for securing a nice spot?
My step 1 score; 93/230, step 2 score; 99/260. These are only things I've got.. What is my chance in the crowd?
Thanks
Shiga

Your scores will put you line for good interviews. Research may help but as IM is not as competitive as other residencies, it may not be absolutely necessary. One of the most important things for you will be to try to get clinical experience here in the US. Many programs require anywhere from 2 months to 1-2 years of experience here to apply. That means you should do some sort of observership/rotation in a US hospital.

I had Kaplan courses, read Blueprint series once, and did all the questions from usmleworld..
Do you have any idea how to find a research position in US. they don't answer to emails mostly..
or does it matter to do a research in US or home country?
