USF and Miami are great schools, but the thing that should push USF over Miami is the price. You will be getting the same education at USF, so it does not pay to give Miami all that extra money. For third and fourth years, in Miami, you will study medicine at jackson memorial. Great hospital and city with lots of diverse cases to see and study. The same arguement can be said for USF. You will be studying at Tampa General as well as many other hospitals, clinics. Tampa is also a great city with lots of diversity as well. The whole prestige arguement is not really that valid. Miami may be more well known due to its undergraduate institution, however that is not what is going to get you the residency of your choice. Grades, scores, and personality all will take precedence over prestige.
One can get any type of residency they want if they have the grades and board scores. Plenty of USF students get residencies in surgery. A Plastic surgery fellowship more depends on your evaluations as a resident as well as board scores. If you have any more questions about USF, I will try my best to answer them.
