Hi all,

I just finished my first year and I inherited the IntensePrep Kaplan lecture notes from 2002 from another student. I am definitely not a lecture-goer so I wasn't planning on taking the lecture series next year in favor of studying on my own. However, I've heard nothing but bad reviews about the Kaplan home-study notes because they're organ-based and that is not how my school teaches the material. My question is, how out of date would these 2002 lecture notes be if I were to use them for the 2004 test? Should I even bother to hang on to them?

Thanks in advance.

keep them. there's no sense in getting rid of perfectly good notes. I seriously doubt there will be any major changes in 2 year's time.

You never know if you'll take the Kaplan lecture course. I didn't but several of my non-lecture-attending classmates decided that the Kaplan class was worth going to.

The intense prep books are different than the Kaplan home study notes. The home study notes do have a bad rep, but the intense prep books are good. I am using them for this year's test (2002 books) and they are easy to use because everything is in one spot and you just divide up the number of pages you need to get through by the number of days you have.

Is the intense prep books the same thing as what you would get if you took USMLE prep course? Someone gave me these books w/7 subjects and a Q book, is it the same thing as the intense prep? Would it be helpful to go threw these books while taking the classes? I've also got this disk that says Qbank on it and is about 47 blocks of 50 questions on it, is this the samething as the subscription qbank that Kaplan offers? Has anyone used a similiar disk?

Yes, the 7 books is what you get w/intense prep.

qbank is a web-based subscription. your cd is probably some bootleg copy of qbank material.
