USMLE for Family Medicine in Midwest

I am going to apply for family medicine residencies in the Midwest. How much will a USMLE Step 1 score help me? I did above average on COMLEX but am uncertain how much of an upside there is for me to take Step 1.

If you are certain that's what you want, then yeah, it likely wouldn't add much. If you're at all unsure, I would probably take it assuming you could do OK. Basically all the FM programs in the midwest that would consider a DO (virtually all of them), will consider you with COMLEX only and a USMLE wouldn't add much.

agree with all the above. You do not need the USMLE if you want to do FM residency in the midwest.
I only did COMLEX and got well over 20 interviews in the midwest alone.
