Does the 3 digit score come from the number of questions you got right after they drop the 50 experimental questions (350-50=300)? For example, a passing score of 182 represents 182/300, which just happens to be right around 60%!!! I know nobody truely has an answer for any of this, but if the NBME scores are scarily accurate, there has to be a straightforward way of arriving at the scores on the real thing. Any thoughts?

Too many fudge factors are thrown in to correct for difficulty of questions and to normalize the scores from year to year. It's impossible to say what percent of questions correct a score is comparable to. As with many other tests though at the high end I'm sure single questions alter the score a lot more.
