Which USMLE study guides are the best? I got a princeton review from a friend... 2003 edition, but i know there are other brands out there. What is the reputation of princeton? are the others better? does it depend on the subject? any thoughts would be appreciated with those who have already taken step one or are preparing for it!

That's an ok book if you have a lot of time to study, after you have blew through First Aid, BRS path, BRS physio 2 or 3 times already, and still have some time to go through everything with another perspective using the systems approach. It's probably not a good primary point text to study from because it lacks the details you need to really do well. First Aide is much more high yield for that purpose.

I would agree...it all begins and ends with First Aid. The BRS path is good and I actually like the NMS Physiology, but it has way too much stuff...most everyone else goes for Costanzo though. I try and stay away from the "Ridiculously Simple" books unless you are having general conceptual difficulty, and I dont think you can go wrong with any "High-Yield" or BRS books. A good book is also "Pathophysiology for the Boards and Wards". Very concise.

If you are looking for complete, comprehensive course coverage (more than your textbooks), try and find some used Kaplan Course Notes on ebay...that should keep you occupied for the next...year.
