I continue to read everybody that there are less slots and Air force fills up faster than the other branches at USUHS. Does this mean that the average MCAT and GPA are also higher. I scored a 34 and have a cumulative GPA of 3.86 and science 3.87. The median for the school is 32, would that make me around the median for Air Force? Does anybody know of a place to find stats by branch?

It does not mean the average MCAT and GPA are higher. From what I understand, your choice of branch has no bearing on your acceptance. You get into the branch if there are open spots, so people who are accepted earlier (interviewed earlier) will get branches in their chosen branch, regardless of their stats. So discrepancies in stats are really just based on self-selection, not acceptance criteria. Last year, Navy filled up the fastest.

At USUHS, people accepted later in the cycle get "accepted but on the waitlist" in a sense, which isn't really the same as a waitlist for other schools. These people are pretty much accepted, but there just aren't enough spots for them. From what I hear, pretty much almost all of them get in off the Air Force and Army wait lists for sure, and less (but still most) get off the Navy waitlist.

Thanks, that information is very helpful. What resources are available to compare the differences between the branches as a military physician. There are plenty of resources comparing the branches as a whole but I have had trouble finding the differences for a military physician.

Thanks, I didn't know about this. No wonder I was having trouble finding stuff
