UT-Houston vs. UT-San Antonio

I interviewed at both and didn't have very strong feelings about either one. I had a hard time ranking them, but ended up putting Houston higher because of the amazing med center.

A lot of my friends REALLY loved San Antonio because of the laid-back atmosphere and happy students.

I think San Antonio is where it's at. Great atmosphere, great culture and a great school that focuses on producing strongly humanistic (and happy) doctors.

And, from what it looks like, it's much easier to be a good med student in San Antonio than in Houston. There's so many pesky little probelms with going to school in Houston that you don't have to deal with at San Antonio so that you can really focus on things you should be focusing on.

agreed. you'd get a good education at both schools, but San Antonio seems to make it easier on you. Plus I like the fact that UTHSCSA actually has a campus.

I think they're equally great schools. It really depends on your personality. I had trouble ranking them also. In the end, I ranked UTH above UTSHCSA only because of the location....UTH has a very vibrant feel to it because of TMC. UTSHCSA has a very nurturing and calm feel to it because of the type of students that they tend to accept.
