Both the MacKay-Dee (Ogden) and University of Utah (SLC) program appear to be very good. Two very different cultures and learning environments though.
M-D is a relatively large community hospital and all subspecialties are represented. FM ran for the most part. Inpatient heavy. Clinic is in the hospital. Nice new hospital. Appears very conservative. It is not uncommon to sign a contract for practice in your PGY-1 or PGY-2 year. Only resident other than FM there is a lone surgical resident from SLC.
U of U uses a small community hospital but they make up for the acuity and volume with rotations at LDS hospital, University hospital, and Primary Childrens. Everything at the University is at your disposal for the most part. Good group of faculty and residents. Rotations are scattered but are within a few miles of each other except for the ski clinic at Snowbird and if you are assigned to the Sugarhouse Clinic (15 minutes from campus).
Unable to comment on St. Mark's (SLC) or Utah Valley (Provo)
