Hello All,

Hoping you can give some advice. I am currently on the waitlist for UVM and love the school. Considering a LOI, but was hoping to hear how the clinical years are at UVM. My only hesitation with the school is the lack of patient diversity and how this will impact my clinical proficiency during residency and beyond.

The other school I am considering is Downstate, definitely more clinical opportunities but not the same quality of life.

What do you all think???

ones rural medicine and the other is city medicine. which environment do see yourself practicing in the future?

Thanks Doc Huang for responding. I ultimately see myself practicing in a city and definitely plan to do my residency accordingly. I believe UVM would provide me with a great foundation i.e. great basic science and clinical education. I am very impressed with their VIC curriculum. I'm from NYC, so excuse my ignorance, are there enough patients with diverse illnesses in UVM/Maine Medical to ensure that great education?

Maybe you could find out more from people in the allopathic forums? You may hear from students that are currently at UVM.
