I am super grateful to have been accepted to two great med schools. But I am still unsure of where to go
UVM
Pros
- love the community and atmosphere. Everyone is literally so nice!
- love the active learning curriculum and flipped classroom
- know will be cared for as a student
- funding for global health experience summer after first year
- 1.5 pre clinical
Cons
- more class time because of TBL
- lower rank
- rural location, not sure if will like
- not as many opportunities outside of class and for global health
- not diverse city, Vermont is very white
Indiana
Pros
- less class time 25 hr/wk
- seems to have more opportunities outside of class ie) free clinic, global health
- more diverse population, really want to work in diverse city but could also just do residency in a diverse place
- better rank
Cons
- admissions office does a really poor job of portraying the school. No second look opportunities at all and interview day was very impersonal
- very large class size, think admin just can’t handle size leading to handling students poorly. Think will impact me as a student
- more lectures, 2 year pre clinical
Cost will be the same. Looking to possibly match in Southern California or Florida. Some where with large Spanish speaking population. Interested in primary care or psych.
Would love to get some opinions
