any VCU Rams or locals know what the skinny is on housing and where to live in the fine city of Richmond? (and where NOT to live...i'm all for keepin it real, but i've heard it can be quite dangerous).

i'm not from richmond but as far as i know (i'll be attending vcu/mcv in the fall) good places for housing are:
The Fan - so-so safe but close to the medical campus (that's where the most students rent apartments)
The West End - very nice, quiet, and safe neighborhood (also cheaper than fan but further away from the campus)
