I was looking for some quick feedback regarding a letter of intent and the value of it. To provide a background, I was accepted at one of my top 3 schools, but not my number one choice. I interviewed at my top school in October, and was placed in the top tier of their wait list.

I am certainly very comfortable going to the school I was accepted into, I just wanted to make sure I did everything and anything I could to give myself the best chance of getting into my top school. I would appreciate any feedback anybody is able to provide, thanks!

Feel free to send it for peace of mind, just don’t expect anything from it. Since these are non-binding and often abused by applicants, there isn’t much value from sending one.

You might as well send one since you don't have much to lose. I'd mention your current acceptance especially if the schools are in a comparable tier.

I appreciate the feedback. I figured as much with the letter. Probably more accurate with the peace of mind. I will definitely state that I was accepted and that I will hold out for my top school...thanks for the help!

You have other acceptances and you are on the top of waitlist so this is one of the few cases where in my opinion it wouldn’t hurt. Some applicants want to send LOIs to schools they havent even interviewed at yet while still having zero acceptances and this is ill advised IMO. My advice with your situation is it probably wont hurt or help that much but it can help peace of mind. The only better circumstance where it could actually help is if the school that is your top choice is of lower tier than your other acceptances due to fit/feel location etc. Good luck and congrats on your acceptances to medical school

If this is your top school and you would definitely attend if accepted, then go ahead and send it. At worst, it would be neutral and give you the peace of mind knowing that you did everything. Adcoms here are generally against LOI's but I don't think they can hurt (unless if it's written badly).
