This school is just way too tough unnecessarily

Plus i've been stupid and been taking all difficult classes for no reason

I've been taking introductory courses in everything

Idk how everyone on here pulls 4.0s, An intro to something professor of mine actually delegates only 6 As among 300 students. (2% get As!)

The competition is ridiculous, and by no means do I consider myself a slacker, I work my *** off studying for exams.

Obviously something must be wrong in my preparation..but finishing up my second year my GPA is basically a 3.0, assuming the worst this semester

Chemistry 1: C+
Chemistry 2: B+, Possibly A-? Grades not out yet
Physics 1: B+, possibly A- or A? Grades not out yet. I'm going to just assume the worst
Bio 1: C [retaking]

The ridiculous part is I've taken a practice MCAT cold and got a 32

I've been look at a few instate California schools at the moment

FYI....med schools do take into account the rigor of your UG so don't feel too bad if you aren't getting 4.0's like people on here who go to StateU and are competing with 1800 SAT people while you're competing with 2250+ SAT people. And unless your cold MCAT was one of the latter AAMC's (read: not AAMC3) then it doesn't mean much.....don't get too cocky and study your a** off for it because if you don't do well then your UG difficulty argument is basically moot.

The thing with me is that personally it doesn't even feel like I'm doing poorly

I always screw 1 thing up badly which ends up messing up my overall grade

Like i would get a 92, 97 on two tests but a 71 on a 3rd, which basically ruins my grade

this always happen to me, even i high school

This semester test scores
Class 1: 91,88,76, The Final
Class 2: 84,98,62, The Final
Class 3: 80, 87, 97, The Final
Class 4: 97, 84, 90, then 72 on the final
Class 5: 91, 78, 90, The Final

I just screw one thing up and it messes me over

Literally? Just dodge its foot and try not to turn your back to Vandy. Then it won't kick you.

In all seriousness though, I can sympathize. I went through a rough pre-med program at a renowned undergrad as well. It's a beast. Try to only take 2 (3 max) science courses per term and supplement with some non-science elective. Even if it takes longer overall, it gives you more time to focus on material in any given academic term.

If you think Vandy is hard, you should try jhu..

If you're taking any classes for which your grade depends in part on understanding the meanings of words, I can see what your problem is. Word like, I dunno, "literally".

I've heard horrible things about JHU.. then again i've heard horrible things about all the really hard graders. Northeast: MIT, RPI, BU, etc.

Website is not credible since it has schools like VCU in it. It's an extremely easy school

Basically the whole south category has students with low GPA/SAT entering...

This. It says Berkeley has some major grade inflation, which I disagree.

OP: Don't take too many science classes in one semester. Spread it out.

School work is different than MCAT. You can be really smart and still fail your classes. The material on exams go into much more depth than the MCAT does and so requires quite a lot of studying. Usually about one week of solid studying per college exam.

Finals you get a little bit of a break because most professors make finals slightly less detailed than midterms.

Since when is Florida International in the midwest? It's in effing Miami!

yes, yes it is. I survived vandy and although I had to reapply because my GPA was so borderline (3.5, 3.3sGPA), I eventually got into 3 MD schools (not a lot compared to some people on SDN, but you only need 1!). It helped that the classes at vandy were so hard that I got a 35 on the mcat without studying. In retrospect, I wish I had gone to MTSU like my sister, gotten a 4.0, and gotten into med school a year earlier without spending a ****ton of money on two application cycles. No question in my mind. For comparison, my sister had a nice easy time in UG and got into vet school on her first try (and she only applied to 1 school).

I wonder what'll happen when you make the jump to medical school. It's the exact same experience, except the people that entered did very well in undergrad. Just something to think about.

True, but my n=1 experience was that I showed up to med school much more prepared to handle the difficulty and sheer volume than most of my classmates with higher UG GPAs. A lot of them had some serious adjusting to do, whereas I use the same study habits as in UG. I don't go to a top med school like you, but...let's be honest, neither will the OP. If he can manage to get an acceptance, it's also possible he will do just fine.
