Is it true that vandy only accepts unmarried residents into it's surgery program secondary to the demands of training? That sounds very discriminatory. Is that true?

I highly doubt it's true. It is discriminatory because it's illegal to ask someone their marital status

My husband has heard this is actually a very family friendly program. I've read similar things online (here at SDN, Scutwork, and other places)

hardly.

if anything, it has a reputation as a place where all the residents have kids and a stay at home wife.

I honestly can't think of a place on the interview trail last year that was more family friendly. At the reception the night before there where probably 30 little kids running around.

Definitely not true. My buddy is there and he was married when he started.

BTW, definitely one of the premier programs in the country in my opinion.

Very very family friendly. I spoke to a recent graduate from the program and found out they average 1 kid/ resident in the program. Besides, the PD is phenomenal I heard.
