Hey guys, I checked the old posts, and they seem pretty outdated.

I have jumped my VR score pretty high since I started studying about a month ago. From the low embarrassing range to the 9-10s consistent on Kaplan and EK. I am wondering if any of you guys hit a VR score plateau, and what you did to overcome it. I have been missing 9-11 questions per section, and it seems that it is usually a hunk of certain passage questions that I miss. Part of it is general library distraction, and the other part I think is maybe getting shaken by end-of-section passages. I also don't think there is a general trend in the type of questions I am missing. What should I look for when I review the missed questions?

My science prep is moving along swimmingly, but I really want to have my VR skills in the bag before I walk in to the center on test day. Any advice guys?

I have just come to accept that maybe 1 out of every 10 verbal passages I simply won't 'get'. I usually get at most 1 wrong per passage now, but every once in a while I come to a passage I will get 3-4 wrong (happened yesterday on AAMC 8 verbal pasage vi).

Just hoping for the best on test day, if I get a stinker of a verbal section I'm just going to not have the test scored and reschedule ASAP.

There is tons of advice in recent threads, just use the advanced search function. Here are a few that I have seen over last month or so that have good discussions. Remember to filter through the responses. There are some gunners and advice-flingers out there who do not know what they are talking about. Fortunately, there are lots of success stories that you can draw from to form your own effective strategy. good Luck!

You can get over the verbal plateau, but it takes some work. Figure out what types of questions, passages, or what part of the test you tend to struggle with. Then mix up your strategy for that passage or that time. I found that when I first start doing passages, my mind isn't quite engaged, but after 2-3 passages, I'm focused. I changed my technique to skim the questions before reading to help me get focused faster. See if you can find any other patterns. They might be subtle, but if you take them on now, you'll see that nice score bump come test day.
