I've taken two practice mcat tests - and got a 7 so far. I hadn't done any verbal reasoning practice before, so I was wondering if I should expect my score to improve with practice.

Is there anyone out there who started out bad, and improved their VR score with practice? If so, HOW DID YOU PRACTICE? This sht is driving me crazy.

and btw... I have the EK 101 book - but it has the old format - is it worth doing those? Also, on page 28 of the Verbal Reasoning and Mathematical Techniques book, it says "the section that follows includes material from the MCAT Practice Test 1/Practice Items" - does anyone know where I can get access to this material. I bought the book used.

You should really use the TPR Verbal Workbook if you can get a hold of it.

Also, practice EVERY single day....at least thats what I do..and I've gone from a 6 to a 9-10 in three months...it took a hell of a lot of time to improve...but I think all that work was worth it....hopefully it works out for the real thing as well :xf: (my exam is 7/16).

YOU CAN DO IT! :)

And I'm not sure about the old EK 101....but if its similar to the new one...its is great for extra practice.

Oh and btw, what works for me is instead of doing all seven passages..I only do six..so I have almost 10 minutes per passage (a few seconds to randomly bubble the passage I skipped). I usually skip the one with an abstract idea because I get lost in those. So then..by having more time per passage I can focus more and get almost all of the questions right for the six I chose to do...and that usually gets me a 9 or if probability's on my side for the passage I skipped..a lucky 10. And thats fine for me. This is just my 2 cents..it may or may not work for you..some people say to not skip any passage...but I just feel so rushed when I try to get to all seven..so yeah.
