Apparently the gang who produced "Boston General" on TLC are trying to pick a vet school in which to film a reality series. They are going to be at Ohio State this week, but I am really curious as to what the other two schools they are considering are. Does anyone have any info?

I have no idea, but I just wanted to say it sounds really interesting! I've been missing seeing vet med on TV since emergency vets stopped on Animal Planet.

Not sure how exciting it would be. Other than inappropriate for the general TV audience images (cadavers, plasticized models, etc) and dirty sounding technical terms that really aren't, there's not much entertainment value there. I suppose they could film an anatomy practical where everyone ends up manipulating their body like a dog in order to figure out what the pinned item is - then again, sometimes, it's inappropriate for TV.

I know late last year we had camera crews and scouts out at NC State for a possible "vet school TV show", so I'm guessing it's for the same project?

That would have to be the most boring show ever.
In this episode, bunnity listens to lectures online. Will it be on the couch, or on the chair? Decisions decisions.

Hahahaha that's awesome. I would so watch.

Glasgow did one last year, and Edinburgh the year before. Unfortunately they were only aired on the UK animal planet. Pretty cool stuff though 😀

Seriously. I can't imagine how this sort of show would hold any appeal.

Reality: vet school is mind-blowingly banal

my classmates and i were discussing earlier how we tend to go to the evening review sessions because its the social event of the night. the rest of the time we're all holed up somewhere studying.

social life = study groups and review sessions. who wouldn't want to watch that?

IME, vet school shows should really be called "Clinicial Rotations" or "Cases from doctors who happen to work at teaching hospitals and oh, there might be a student in the background". I watched both Vet School (at the Royal Dick school) and Campus Vets (an older series that was done at WCVM at University of Saskatchewan) and they were basically just chronicling client cases that came through the teaching hospitals.

I think Michigan State had some camera crews come by a few weeks ago for a reality show-pilot test run, so maybe MSU is one of the schools also in the running?

I think the show focuses more on the lives/case work ups of the interns and residents, not really on the *school* part of the vet school/vet students.

I dunno, might get exciting when they film the gunners being all irate that they got a 97.95% when really they deserved a 98%. How will they get an internship and residency in the specialty of their choice now?!?!?!?! THE GRADES.

What if someone sits in your seat? Witch is going down!

What about the inevitable awkward divorce between students in the same class who now have to be in clinics together?

What about that professor who my friend heard about from her friend that he likes to date the students?

See, there is plenty of drama to go around for a reality program in vet school 🙂

I loved emergency vets! Best show ever!
