guys does visa status play a role in admission process and what do you suggest for some one who is on b1/b2 and plannig to change his /her status to f1 by taking an other graduate program. help me with this.

It depends really on the programs or schools that you are considering, some will only take applications from US citizens or peramenent residents, and others will consider applications regardless of the current visa status, and when accepted they will initiate for you the necessary paperwork to switch to a student visa, you have to get in touch with schools and check their policies and guidelines,
