"When contrast medium is used for spinal injections, intrathecal injection of contrast or steroids is not expected. As articulated in the International Spine Intervention Society’s FactFinder on Preservatives,1 if the needle tip is properly placed, intrathecal injection of contrast medium is unlikely and therefore the choice of Isovue or Isovue-M is inconsequential."

Visipaque is safe for IT usage and the label allows for myelograms with it. Just google the package insert if you're worried.

when you think about this statement, its kind of silly. inconsequential if you did it correctly. so do it correctly.

what does SIS think we are doing? deliberately trying to screw up?

this position statement literally has no substance.

Would agree that statement is crazy. No one is trying to inject intrathecal, by that same logic no contrast is needed because of the needle is placed properly it should be in the intrathecal space. .
