Visiting After Applying...

Is it considered a faux pas to visit/tour a school when you're currently in the application process? I'm an officer in my school's AMSA chapter, and we have a visit to a school I've applied to coming up next week. I was definitely intending to go until someone mentioned that they'd heard that before. Should I back out?

That's only because we are trained to fear the establishment. I wasn't so scared until I realized my acceptance into medical school depended on other people (besides grades and stuff).
