How much does volunteer experience really matter? I have had great medically related employment opportunities my whole undergrad career. I have done multiple internships at the Mayo Clinic (research and otherwise), done research with an MD/PhD at my university (U of WI), and worked with people with disabilities at my campus job. This has been solid since my sophomore year (I just graduated after 4.5 years). Will I be penalized by adcomms (for not having recent volunteer experience) just because I have been fortunate enough to be paid for these experiences? What do you think?

you're okay. ADCOMS don't care so much about volunteering, but more about the actual health care experience.

Hi there-

I suggest you add some altruistically evident activity to your portfolio if you are interested in letting others know you care about other's well being uninterestedly.
