Volunteer to Paid = Community Service?

Quick question for the group. I am filling out secondary applications and a question I have received is: What is the most memorable community service activity and how did it impact you?

For me, my most meaningful community service activity was when I volunteered/worked as a crisis call responder for a suicide and crisis hot line.

The issue I see is, I initially started out as a volunteer but was shortly moved into a paid position. Since I was eventually paid for this work, is it no longer eligible to count as community service that I can write about?

Community service -- serving the community -- can be paid or unpaid. The prompt is not "what is your most memorable volunteer activity". The crisis hotline sounds like a great community service on which to base your essay!
