what kind of volunteering do you do? im trying to figure out what kind of volunteering i should do in the next year and am looking for suggestions...

thats the biggest coincidence in the world (or maybe not)...

kussemek's nickname means f**k your mother, in arabic...the arab population is big on SDN man, I wouldn't keep my nickname like that, its extremely disrespectful....

on the other hand, maybe i am mistaken, and your not arab and therefor I apologize in advance if this is the case...

definately not arabic, i am Israeli. And while that is one of its connotations, it does have another meaning.

I have now added a new insult to my vocabulary.

lol, could this count as volunteering? helping people enrich their vocabulary😉 jk

Excuse me, but I know that a particular class of enzymes find your name quite offensive. Your name represents the blatant, intentional repression of these enzymes that has been going on unchecked for billions of years. As a spokesperson for enzyme rights I think it is irresponsible for you to use the name and request that you change it immediately.

what kind of research do you guys do?

I volunteered at my local hospital, but my friends actually went on missions to Africa, Mexico, and the Ukraine. For research I did two semesters of bioremediation, not a whole lot, about 2 semester units total. Preferably you want your volunteering and your research to be medical orientated. There are a lot of internship opportunities out there in research. I recommend checking out what NIH has to offer first.

Do whatever you are interested in. Your volunteering doesn't have to be your clinical experience. Just make sure you shadow a few physicians if you don't volunteer in a clinical setting.

EDIT: Some interesting alternatives to being a hospital gopher (in my opinion): Planned Parenthood, local women's shelter, crisis hotlines, and retirement communities.
