we just put my grandma into a nursing home and i think im going to volunteer there regardless to be around her and stuff during my winter break, will this be relevant to EC on an app?

the Univ of Maryland application in one of the essays asks about community service activities or activities helping others in a one-to-one type of way. I think volunteering at a nursing home is definitely an EC med schools would like to know about. It may not be quite as useful as some type of clinical experience but you should definitely list it as one of your ECs.
