I'm thinking about volunteering as an interpreter. It seems like it would be a great experience because you actually get to interact with patients and doctors instead of doing the usual, mostly useless things like stocking shelves. But I'm afraid med schools won't find it "medical enough." What do you guys think about this kind of volunteering as opposed to the standard E.R. or nursing unit experiences? Thanks.

Sounds good to me. As long as you can experience what it's like being in a healthcare environment, you should be okay. Even better is that you get to take an active part in it. I think it's a great idea!

Definitely go for it! I think that would be a much better and more valuable experience than the typical ER volunteering gives you. Plus it makes you a little more unique.
