Volunteering in the Northern VA area

Does anybody know of good hospitals in the Northern Virginia Area that I can volunteer at where I will possibly be doing more than taking out the thrash? I am considering the INOVA hospital system but from their volunteering website it doesn't look like I am going to be able to do anything other than work at the flower shop or a recieving desk in the ER. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm from that area and volunteered in the INOVA system while I was in high school and the first summer of college. Got to do quite a lot -- way more than at my university hospital during college. If you want more info, PM me.

What are you looking to get out of volunteering? Like, what do you want to do while volunteering that's not mentioned on the website? I'm just asking so I can help direct you to places that might be a better fit.

What types of experiences in terms of what were you able to get involved in etc. did you guy's have at the Inova system? I am open to different things myself, as long as its medically related and gives me an opportunity to learn new things. I would especially love to be involved in a dept. that deals with the specialists, i.e, Radiology, Cardiology, Neurology etc.
