Hi everyone,

When it comes to reporting volunteering hours to medical schools, can you include hours from high school if it is a ongoing service opportunity?

Ie. I have been doing service at a place since sophomore year and am a sophomore in college--do I just report the time volunteering in college, or can I include the time from high school too?

Thanks

Since the experience started in HS, but continued into the college years, you are welcome to include all the dates and all the hours. But you might consider using the Repeated function to break the hours down into HS and college date spans. All of them will still appear in the header of the space.

Agree. Total date range and hour count can reflect your HS hours, because it continued into college. As a general rule, it is my understanding that an experience that did not continue past HS should not be included, unless it is truly exceptional. (I am thinking Grand prize at ISEF, National Spelling Bee, National Champion at some sport...) Correct me if I am wrong SDN.
