I am wondering if I have a good chance for low tier American MD schools. My verbal score is only an 8... My extracurricular activities are just average and nothing exceptional. I am a Canadian applicant. I will submitting my primary in mid July (hopefully!).

undergrad gpa: (~3.8 sci, ~3.8 cumulative gpa)
M.Sc.: inorganic chemistry (~3.8 grad gpa)
MCAT: 13 (BS), 12 (PS), 8 (VR) = 33Q (2010)

Extracurricular (average, nothing exceptional):
- executive member of club (2 years)
- hospital volunteering -clinical (300 hours)
- hospital volunteering - nonclinical (200 hours)
-several awards in undergrad and grad.
-research as undergrad & grad
-1 co-author publication & 1 first author publication submitted
-1 conference poster
-TAing

As an international applicant competing against other internationals with near-perfect applications for the few US allopathic med school seats that go to non-US citizens and permanent residents, I'd say that an MD acceptance for you is iffy. I can only think of one school that accepts internationals that has a bottom tenth percentile for verbal score below an 8 (Rosalind Franklin). If you're unwilling to retake the MCAT, I'd suggest you consider applying to DO med schools, as well, where the lower VS won't hinder you.
