just spoke to frantz at columbia and sorry to say this but it looks like we columbian waitlistees are in bad shape. he said that it looks pretty bad for us all and there's pretty much no chance as of now_ he said that this year there were many many fewer withdrawals than usual. sucks for us. sorry, i really wanted to go there as well. as for penn, what tier are you in???

find out where you stand at penn, and if you're not in the top tier, i would suggest telling nyu that they're your number one choice. i think this would pay off. im also waitlisted at 3 (cornell, columbia, and stanford) and am really really dying for any one of them. i am in at a top 20 school, but the school really doesn't fit me and i would stand out like a sore thumb-not really looking forward to or excited about matriculating there. great school-just i really can't picture myself there. anyway, i,like you, am really going nuts over these waitlists and all i can say is dude, i feel your pain. good luck to both of us.

I also heard the same thing about Columbia from another SDNer. It really killed my hopes.
