Hi. So for those of you who have seen my Upstate 2nd Visit Day threads, this one is asking a little different question.

I have read that there are some other schools who invite WLees to their 2nd look days (other than Upstate). I was wondering if going, or not going, can have a positive or negative impact on your rank on the WL.

Is there anyone on this forum that got in off a WL after going (or not going) to a 2nd look day??

This is my situation: I am on the high priority list at Upstate and was invited to the 2nd look. I RSVP'd for the day which is this Friday. My MS thesis defense is in a week and even though I have a BOATLOAD of work to do this week I am willing to take a day and a half off to go because this looks like my best chance for an acceptance right now. For those who dont know, I am waitlisted at 5 schools 🙁
ANYWAY. I am looking at my schedule and I know that if I work literally 10-12hr work days for the next two full work days and bust my ass over the weekend I can feasibly finish what I need to do. My question is it really worth it?? Will going really help my chances?? Please tell me what you honestly think and if there are those who were in this type of situation in the past at ANY school, let me know what you did and what the outcome was.

Thanks a million!!!!

Did you try calling Upstate? maybe they can tell you your odds of getting in. I haven't read your other thread so forgive me if you've already answered this. It seems like you have alot on your plate right now with your masters and all. Thats a tough call.

Hey girl! EVMS invited me to the 2nd look weekend and I didn't go - then they accepted me off the waitlist 1-2 weeks later - so in that case it didn't matter. I think as long as you tell the school you KNOW you want to go there, then a second look seems moot. In some ways - a second look could be seen as some indecision (who needs a second look if you know you want to go there). Hope this helps!!

I was invited to a 2nd look and am waitlisted, don't know my exact rank or position, but I take the invite as a positive signal.

I am definitely going, and it's just to feel I have done my all to show them I am sacrificing time from work, travel money, and emotional distress to go...I want to make sure I tried my hardest...if I do get in, I will also have met some classmates early which is nice in the Fall.

Spin, if you have something very demanding to do, I would still try to go; just being there shows them you are really considering your waitlist spot...you could always beg and grovel in an email/phone call, but I don't think this is as effective or structured.🙄 Good luck and anyone post their past experiences if already accepted off a waitlist with/without attending 2nd look.😀

Thanks all for your input.
I know that I can go and as much of a pain in the butt it will be I will suck it up and go. Cause at least I know I did everything possible to get in...like dropping everything and driving 5 hrs there and back...hope some one on the Upstate adcom sees this!!!!!!!
ugh.

Anyway, Lab-Rat I guess I'll see ya there...

Thanks much!!
