Okay...some of you know me and some of you don't...

I'm on one waitlist (at Wayne) with no acceptances so far. (mostly due to my illness in Sept I think). I'm going on a cruise this Sunday (leaving tomorrow morning actually). I'm worried about what happens if I am lucky enough to get an acceptance in the next couple of days. I won't be back for a little over a week. What should I do? Any suggestions?

well do you know if wayne calls or sends express mail?
if they call and you get reception then yay!
if they send express mail, then you should technically have 2 weeks to decide if you want to go...meaning the cruise should be ok since you are only going to be gone a week.
and plus you can always have people check the mail for you as well to keep you updated.

If it's extremely urgent, they'll try to reach you at all the various contacts you put down. IE current home phone, permanent phone (parents?)

You could send them an email to update your contact information and put down a couple secondary contact numbers and addresses.

I have no clue if Wayne calls or not...does anyone know? Every contact I've had with them with offical stuff (like secondary, interview) was mail, except to find out if I was accept/rejected/waitlist, and that time I called them.

And, the thing about a cruise is...I'm gonna be in the caribbean...and people can call you on the ship, but it's like $10 per min...

I actually did send them an e-mail telling them the situation. But haven't gotten a response yet, so I have no clue if that was enough. Maybe it was.

then all you can do right now is just wait for their response...

so when are you going anyway?
no cell reception there i assume huh?

Per AAMC regulations, if you're travelling, you're allowed to empower someone else to make decisions on your behalf. I'd write an email (or, better yet, call) explaining that you'll be out of touch between such and such dates, that you've definitely committed to attending if accepted, and that you're leaving decision-making power with a relative/friend in your absence.

I think that will be fine.

I think a lot of schools start calling after May 15 to move the process along by cutting out the wait time for mail delivery.

Give the school all your family's phone numbers and tell your family to tell the schools that you accept the spot.
