Just found out that Wake Forest isn't inviting people for interviews this year. They are waiting for applicants to call them. So if you applied to Wake and haven't interviewed yet, you need to call and check your status and set up an interview

Not true. They called me for an interview, without me ever calling them.

However, quite a few people have been successful in getting an interview by calling and asking.

Wake offered an interview without me calling the admissions office and asking for it. However, I have heard many people say that they called after not hearing from Wake and were immediately offered an interview. So my advice is to show them your interest!

If Wake puts you in the "top interview pool" then they will eventually contact you to schedule an interview, but it may take awhile. The advantage of calling is that you don't have to wait for them to contact you and you will be able to schedule your interview much sooner. However, if you are not in the "top interview pool," calling will not help. They may give you an indication of where you stand, but I don't think they will bump you into a higher pool just for calling.

My advice is to call as soon as you get the e-mail saying that your file is complete and say "I was wondering what my application status is." If you are in the top pool, great. If not, you can probably cross Wake off your list.

Heres one for ya...

So I called to ask why I have not heard anything since submitting the secondary way back when at the end of the summer last year. They said that I was in an interview pool "between the first and second interview pools". I proceeded to ask what the hell this means, and they told me something to the effect of "we will call you when we want you, and this will only occur if one of the people we give an interview to decides to not come".

Wake prefers students who show that Wake is their number one choice. That goes for calling them to "request" an interview (if you are in the top interview pool) as well as writing them letters of interest/intent after the interview. They waitlist most of the interviewees, and subsequently will only consider for acceptance those who wrote the letters saying how much they love Wake.

I had to call 5 times before I was able to get my interview over the phone 🙂
