Hello!

Thank you for helping me out! I am having trouble coming up with a good school list given my experience at an SMP, if you could give me some recs I would greatly appreciate!

  • Clinical Experience (paid or volunteer): clinical research was paid for 2 years and worked with patients; will be a scribe this year
  • Physician Shadowing: only shadowed my PI and her colleagues a few times? maybe 30 hours. should I do more shadowing before applying in June? I've been very busy with SMP coursework

Great job on the SMP and MCAT. Your application is well rounded activities wise and you have had productive research. Make sure to clearly state your clinical research gave you clinical experience with patients (and write/talk about this). Your current school list is okay, but a bit short. You should expand it (aim for at least 20-25 schools total).

Look into the following: Rochester, Cincinnati, Vermont, Emory, Jefferson, Temple, Pitt, Miami, OSU, NYMC, USF, Western Michigan, Loyola, MCW, Creighton, SLU, Kaiser, Stony Brook.

With regards to the top schools, I think you should definitely throw a few of those in as your MCAT + SMP + Research combo make you very suitable, but they are still reaches and should be treated as such. Maybe see for which ones your GPA is >10th percentile and go from there.
