Hi!

Just wanted to know what SDN thinks about my chances:

3.61 overall gpa, 3.5 science gpa
definitely an upward trend
GPA of freshmen year: 3.6 cGPA
GPA of just sophomore year: 2.9 cGPA (sGPA around 2.5)
GPA of just junior year: 4.0 cGPA/4.0 sGPA (retook the class I got a D- in ^)
GPA of just senior year: 3.9 cGPA/3.88 sGPA
Cumulative: 3.61 at the end/ 3.5 sGPA
MCAT 517

Go to a good school (small, but competitive to get into, really hard overall)
ORM, female, first-get
NC resident (interested in MD schools mostly, but will also apply to DO schools)

Main extracurriculars:
-Psych research lab assistant for 2 semesters, 500 hours over the summer, no publication but a poster, different projects but same lab
-Leadership: Tour guide for 2 years, online paid tutor/mentor for high schoolers for all 4 years through an organization - do these count?
-Service: Clinical is volunteering at a hospice two years (150 hours), hospital 2 semesters (80 hours)
non-clinical is 4 years of 3 hours a week of tutoring at a college access center for disadvantaged kids
Planning on doing something service related during gap year (not sure if these hours get to count or if I can still write about it in my application? also does anyone have specific suggestions on what I should do during a gap year to maybe round out my extracurriculars more?)
Shadowing - family physician 40 hours & 40 hours other specialties

Mostly interested in these schools:

UNC Chapel Hill
Wake Forest
ECU
Temple
Drexel
UVM
Albany Medical College
Sidney Kimmel
New York Medical College
Kaiser (?) - good/bad idea?
PCOM

I would love to know what people think my chances are at these schools but other than that, I'd also love to know what schools I should add to my list!!

Thanks! Do you think I have a good chance at these MD schools? I'm below all of their avg GPA averages I believes - is that a big issue?

Attended open houses? Recruiting fairs? AMSA events to meet current students or admissions recruiters? Reached out to current students here on SDN?
I go to a pretty small college, I've never heard of any recruiters come or fairs happen so far... Are there other ways to show networking? Is this a big deal?

I guess it depends on what you mean by a big deal. In past years all these recruitment fairs were scheduled throughout NC from Charlotte to Raleigh, so if you are in range of any of those fairs, you could attend. It is a great way for people from very small schools to meet with recruiters.
