Hi everyone,

Here is my information:

1. cGPA: 3.7, sGPA: 3.6
*One bad semester has made these stats not a true reflection of my undergraduate performance.

2. MCAT: 510 (balanced)
3. South Dakota resident
4. White
5. Attended top 25 university
6. Clinical experiences:

- I work as a Nursing Assistant in Surgery (>1000 hours currently, nearly 2000 hours by next cycle). I have developed relationships with numerous physicians in the department. It has lead to frequent informal shadowing opportunities.
- Recently offered job as Emergency Medical Technician (estimated 300 hours by next cycle)
- Emergency department volunteer for one semester (40 hours)

7. Research

- Conducted human epidemiological research on the health effects of harmful algal bloom exposure in South Florida. No publications (600 hours).
- Chemesthesis research on invertebrates. No publications (200 hours).

8. Shadowing

(formal):
- 100 hours anesthesiology
- 24 hours family practice
- 8 hours neuroradiology
- 8 hours ophthalmology
- 8 hours general surgery (scheduled)

*As mentioned, I am fortunate enough to briefly shadow physicians (primarily anesthesiologists) in the surgical department on a daily basis.

9. Non-clinical volunteering

- I volunteer at an addiction recovery center. I help collect data aimed at assessing the effectiveness of the treatment center's program. My involvement is ongoing (50 hours, more to come).
- I volunteered for a local community's Miracle League, a baseball league for disabled adults and children. I ran league games one night a week during the summer. (20 hours)
- Recently started volunteering at a homeless shelter. I should have >100hours at the shelter by next cycle.

10. ECs

- Member of Substance Abuse Committee at my undergraduate university (25 hours).

Here is my school list:

Franklin
Creighton
Drexel
GW
Georgetown

I have been offered 2 II's this cycle, one already done and one scheduled (no news yet). Given that it's almost the holidays, I am starting to direct my thinking towards next cycle (might as well, right?). Any suggestions as to how I can best spend my time over the next six months until I submit June 1st would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Get in more nonclinical volunteering. Do NOT do any more shadowing.
Practice interview skills.
