My clinical volunteering;
1. 120 hours at a local hospital, working in multiple wings helping patients with simple stuff (filling water, changing beds, wheelchair escorts, etc)
2. 50 hours at an Optometrist's office, he would allow me to perform eye exams and use some of the basic machines/equipment
3. 50 hours at a Nursing Home, this was done during the summer between high school and college. (Don't know if this counts, for that reason.) I would help the PTs and OTs with patient excersises, transport patients, etc.
Non-Clinical Volunteering:
1. 100 hours at a inner city food kitchen and clothing shelter. People would come in off the streets if they needed help with dinner or clothes.
Shadowing:
1. 8 hours with D.O. Radiologist
2. 50 hours with D.O. Vascular Surgeon (Will have LOR from him when the cycle begins)
3. 20 hours with M.D. Pediatrician (Could have a LOR from him when cycle begins, if you think it is necessary for the M.D. application?)
4. 20 hours with M.D. Ophthalmologist
Research:
1. Paid research to work alongside a Grad student on a animal behavior study through SUNY STEM Passport Foundation
2. Currently working on Honors Research Project through the college on bacterial DNA sequencing of water samples found within an inner city beach.
Awards:
1. Deans list every semester
2. Couple
I was wondering which MD and DO schools I should be targeting.
