I just graduated with my undergraduate degree and I am disappointed in getting a B- in my cellular biology course. The last B I received was my Freshman year and this ended up messing up my upward trend.
I went from a 3.44 my freshman year to near 4.0 my sophomore and junior years to a 3.6ish my senior year. However, I only took one semester of classes (graduated fall) and it was a four credit hour course. Overall, my science GPA is a 3.79 and my cumulative is 3.86. I understand it is a somewhat downwards trend but it was my only B- and all my other courses my senior year were As. I have 2B's and 1 B- and 1B+ and all other grades are As/A-.
Science trend: 3.4> 3.97 >3.96 > 3.5-3.6ish (due to one B-)
ORM/GA resident
cGPA: 3.86
sGPA: 3.79
MCAT: 505, planning a retake because of low 123 CARS (127/123/128/127)
Clinical hours: 1000+ as Medical Assistant
Clinical volunteering: 100+ hours at charitable health clinic (triager) / 350 hours at family medicine practice
Nonclinical volunteering: 400 hours as hotline advocate / starting food bank in January
Research: 900+ hours as undergraduate researcher for vaccines and immunology
Leadership: Multicultural and Service Org Eboard, Healthcare club eboard, ambassador for inaugural education program
I understand my last semester B- puts a damper on my application, but I hope an increase in my MCAT score can possibly make up for it. How badly will this effect my chances? What are some good schools to apply to?
