Hi... I have been planning on retaking the MCAT in late August in hopes of producing a better score to update schools with. I am applying as normal with my 507. Only problem is I am having trouble seeing a jump in my practice tests. My real test was 507 (127/124/129/127). My practice tests this study cycle have been 507/505/507/510. I am consistently 128 or 129 in everything except CARS. My hope is that I can turn my 124 in CARS into a 127 or 128, but after a LOT of practice my accuracy on the AAMC prep material is still only like 65-70%. My school list is MichSU, UMich, Wayne, Western Mich, Wake Forest, UNC, Colorado, Drexel, Albany, Temple, Loyola, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Emory plus MSU DO school

I am a MI resident, this will be my second cycle applying. I have a masters degree in an applicable field, I was a D1 athlete and captain, I worked in a lab for 2 years and have several summers of clinical working experience. Volunteering hours are low-ish but okay. I am planning to be a PCA this year and get more volunteering hours. I believe I have a really strong personal statement and some strong letters.

Should I retake the MCAT in August if I think the average I would do is a 510? That is only a 3 point increase, but I feel like 507-->510 opens doors.

Any and all advice is welcomed.

A MCAT score of 507 (or even 510) is not competitive for UNC, Colorado, Emory and Pittsburgh. You should add more schools to your application and I suggest these:
Central Michigan
Oakland Beaumont
Medical College Wisconsin
Rosalind Franklin
TCU
Belmont
NOVA MD
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
George Washington
Vermont
Quinnipiac
Alice Walton (when it opens)
Roseman (when it opens)
Also add more DO schools and consider these
MU-COM
CCOM
DMU-COM
AZCOM
ATSU-KCOM
KCU-COM
CUSOM
PCOM
Touro-NY
NYITCOM

Thanks. Do you think it's worth it to retake the MCAT next month? I think the highest I would get is 514 and lowest would be a 507 based off my FLs.

You can try but be aware that schools will screen your application based on your current MCAT.

Have you submitted primaries to all of those schools? Schools are under no obligation to wait for your new score. Your fate might be decided long before your new score arrives.
And many schools average multiple scores.
Unless you have hundreds or better yet thousands of service hours, forget Loyola.
How have you significantly improved your application since your last cycle?

Yes, I have already submitted primaries. And yeah, I have found it's a toss up with schools holding applications until new scores come in. Some do. I've also heard of people updating their MCAT scores in like January and then getting II shortly after.

Since my last cycle, I have gotten a masters, done more non-healthcare service, worked another year in a lab, and presented at a conference. It still only bumps my service hours up to like 100 or so... but this is something I have really struggled to fit in since I need paid work. I will finally have time to up these hours this gap year.

With all this being said, I might just go ahead and take the MCAT again... it seems like it wouldn't HURT my chances (unless i do worse)?

AMCAS schools generally state they only will consider MCAT scores in the calendar year before intended matriculation. In other words, September 2024 for 2025 matriculation. DO schools are more flexible, and some state they will consider MCAT scores in January 2025. You need to check with the schools' websites or the directories (MSAR or ChooseDO).
