My background:
- OR resident. ORM. Father is physician (good or bad? idk)
- My narrative is somewhat strong. Learned Spanish in youth and had many hispanic friends. Clinical volunteering is a free clinic that mostly serves uninsured Latino pop. Non-clinical volunteering is a program that works with disadvantaged Latino youth that I started 2 yrs ago. I emphasize cultural competency and wanting to serve as a bilingual physician
- Entering 4th year of undergrad w/ 3.99 GPA at BYU. Cell bio/Spanish dual major
- ~700 hours volunteering split about half and half clinical/non-clinical. (not incl. LDS mission)
- Significant responsibilities/leadership in volunteering.
- 1000 hrs paid work teaching Spanish
- Misc work as TA, tutor etc.
- 200 hrs paid clinical as medical interpreter
- 1000 hrs research, 1 poster/conf, 1 pub (middle author), 1 submitted 1st author pub (submitted yesterday, likely update in a few months)
- Undergrad in UT. Lived in NE as a young child, besides that no other state ties.
- 125 on CARS, idk if that matters. MCAT dropped 6 points from expected but likely will not retake unless CARS is a red flag...

Please give feedback on my schools and I would deeply appreciate suggestions of additional schools!

Davis takes 0-3 OOS students most years. I suspect most of them were those who attended UCD as an OOS student. The TX schools are 90% IS and go after high stat applicants for their remaining 10% (and require TMDSAS). Nebraska is similarly nearly entirely IS students.

I suggest:

OHSU
Utah
AZ Phoenix
Einstein
Rochester
Hofstra
Mayo
Ohio State
Cincinnati
Case
Dartmouth
Tufts
Vermont
Jefferson
Pitt
Hackensack
Georgetown
VCU
EVMS
Rosalind Franklin
Loyola
Creighton
Saint Louis
Western Michigan
Wake
Emory
Miami
USF
Loma Linda (looks for similar religious beliefs)
Keck
Colorado
TCU
