  1. Pre-Medical
Hi everyone! I was told to inquire with y'all about a school list. Any help would be appreciated

  1. cGPA and sGPA as calculated by AMCAS or AACOMAS
cGPA approx 3.8 sGPA 3.85
  1. MCAT score(s) and breakdown
516 (130-129-128-129)
  1. State of residence or country of citizenship (if non-US)
Tennessee, strong ties in Florida (grew up there, family etc.)
  1. Ethnicity and/or race
White male (cuban / jewish - pretty sure that doesn't matter haha)
  1. Undergraduate institution or category
University of Tenn. at Chattanooga
  1. Clinical experience (volunteer and non-volunteer)
>11,000 as a paramedic working for 3 high call volume ALS ambulances, experience in rural EMS as well. >1200 hours as an ER technician when I was an EMT (very hands on too, starting IV's, drawing labs, splinting etc)
  1. Research experience and productivity
Absolutely none (essentially working full time and am married)
  1. Shadowing experience and specialties represented
20 hours IM, gunna try for 20 in EM but COVID has thrown a wrench into that
  1. Non-clinical volunteering
40ish hours, gunna pick it up and aim for 200 by may
  1. Other extracurricular activities (including athletics, military service, gap year activities, leadership, teaching, etc)
Accomplished rock climber, bouldering v10, sport climbing 5.13, trad climbing 5.12 with tons of multipitch ascents and some big wall experience in yosemite valley / utah. Was nationally ranked as a youth climber and still compete. Have some rope rescue experience under my belt but nothing remarkable.

Created and still teach an advanced cardiology / electrocardiography class for EMS and RNs / NPs. Covers things like STEMI imposters, up to date pre-hospital care for cardiac patients / sgarbossa criteria etc. >10 hours doing that, got state approval for it to count as CEUs. Going to create another class for airway management I think.

Not super relevant but I also do tons of car maintenance and repair with friends. Rebuilt an engine, do brake jobs, emission stuff etc.
  1. Relevant honors or awards
"Golden laryngoscope" award at my service for most successful first pass intubations
  1. Anything else not listed you think might be important
Have a very happy and healthy marriage while working / studying full time. Way harder than it sounds.

Have been on TV for a ride-along type show

Thinking of applying around the southeast because of my wife and I wanting to be near family, so I'm thinking Memphis, Quillen, Tulane, UAB, Emory, UCF, Louisville, reeeeeeeeeaching for Vandy (no research I know it's not happening but a boy can dream). Willing to escape the south though. Thoughts?

I suggest these schools with your stats and geographic preference:
Tennessee
East Tennessee
Tulane
Vanderbilt
Emory
TCU-UNT
Wake Forest
Duke
Virginia Commonwealth
Eastern Virginia
NOVA MD
Florida Atlantic

Thank you so much! Duke feels like a bit of a reach but Ill still consider it haha

If you are Cuban, Duke and Vandy are well within reach. If you are willing to go to Virginia, I would add VCU, EVMS, and maybe UVA
