Hey guys, undergrad here just looking for some advice on my app as it stands as far as any weak spots/ places to improve. I have not taken the MCAT yet so obviously thats a HUGE part of this process, but was hoping for some feedback on what I have so far in terms of ECs.
1. Neuroscience major, Spanish minor, gerontology minor
2. 3.93 cGPA, 3.78 sGPA
3. Clinical experience: 500 hours as CNA at memory care facility, 1000 hours as orderly in post anesthesia care unit
4. Clinical volunteering: 80 hours as hospice volunteer
5. Non clinical volunteering: 200 hours at food bank, 250 hours over course of two year mission in Peru
6. Shadowing: 20 hours FM
7. Research: projected 400 hours by time of application at neuro lab studying LTP/LTD and memory
8. Leadership: 2.5 years as TA, 1 year in Peru planning/leading service activities, leading/teaching English classes, 200 hours as PACU liaison at hospital
9. Other ECs: certified medical interpreter (Spanish), premed club, gerontology club
Forgot to mention: ORM, Oregon residence, attending school in Utah
Any advice appreciated. Assuming I do well on the MCAT, which i know is a BIG assumption, however as far as ECs and GPA go, how do I look for mid to upper tier MD? What weaknesses should I work on addressing between now and the time I apply? Thanks in advance!
